5 on friday: surgery edition

June 28, 2013

We all know my beloved Newlywed Game came to an end, leaving me with wide open Fridays. We also know I've had a super fun week recovering from surgery. Thankfully, one of my favorite bloggers of all time, Christina, started 5 on Friday, a weekly list of personal sunshine. I occasionally post such things under "re•cent awesomeness," but this works too!

Without further adieu, the top 5 things that got me through this week:

5. Free Stuff

I rarely win those blog giveaways, but I was quite thrilled when Nadine contacted me shortly before my procedure to tell me I'd won a piece of bling of my choice from The Rad Market. Receiving this pretty Blue Sea necklace was a nice pick-me-up while at home recovering.

4. Cara Boxes

Again, free stuff in the mail is always a pick me up. Sean brought in my June Cara Box when I was in bed and I opened it right there, sans contacts. The circus fair theme was a hard one, but Katherine clearly got creative and did a great job!

3. Blog Land
Thanks, all of you, really! It was so nice to see daily comments and e-mails wishing me well. I read them all, albeit in short spurts because technology is still causing me dizziness. It is always nice to know people care. Hopefully I replied to all of you, but if you didn't hear back from me, I'm sorry! Blame it on the drugs.

2. Church Family
I''ll likely be swiping this recipe from her and sharing it on the blog. mmm!

From a pastor's wife bringing us a delicious, meat-free dinner to friends texting and visiting, again, it is great to be a part of such a supportive community. We love our church!

1. My husband
Of course! Surgery sucks but it's a reminder I definitely married the right guy. From calling me to make sure I'm taking the right meds at the right times to keeping me comfortable and trying to wash my hair for me so we don't get my ear wet...he's a keeper.
